| “ | As a young woman struggling with rheumatoid arthritis I am constantly combating negativity in my life. My work has become all about this goal. I do not make dark work. The world is dark enough already. My work is therapy for me. Not everyone can draw with perfect naturalism, but everyone can benefit from the release that making artwork provides. Although I do not necessarily promote naturalism in my classroom, for me there is something comforting about it. I cannot create the perfect world in reality, but sometimes I can create an almost perfect rendering on paper, and that is close enough for me. | ” |

Biography:
| “ | I grew up in the very small town of Berryville, Arkansas. I was introduced to art in high school-- I took the class because the guy I had a crush on was taking it. I fell in love instantly-- with art, not the guy. My art teacher was extremely influential in my life, especially after I was diagnosed with RA, and I decided that I wanted to do for others what she had done for me. I went to college at UCA in Conway and majored in Art Education. I met my husband at a Razorbacks game in 2003 and we were married July 28, 2005. I currently keep busy writing lesson plans, making art, and taking care of our three dogs. | ” |
